36 weeks! Birdie Update!

36 weeks with baby boy #2 and a silly big brother!

Momma flew away for a few minutes to get a snack (I think) and I was able to get a picture of the babies!  SO tiny!

Happy Birthday Birdies!

Some time in between us playing outside yesterday evening and lunchtime today, our nesting Mourning Dove became a Mommy with her two eggs hatching!  The babies aren't chirping just yet, but I'm sure we'll hear them soon enough.  The research I did says that the babies will stay in the nest for about 2 weeks.  Wonder how big they'll get over the next 2 weeks!!!

Will eating lunch.  This is just after we noticed the eggs had hatched!  He was screaming "CHEESE" at  me! :)

I know it's a little blurry, but Momma bird is feeding the babies!

Forts!

What kid doesn't LOVE a homemade fort?!  :)

Looking for bears in the "cave".

Silly man.

Had to get a wider shot so you can see Mommy's handiwork at fort building!

New Neighbor

Yesterday we went outside to see a hawk up in one of the trees next to our house.  He was sitting on a branch squawking and we thought Will would love to see him!  As Dave was going back inside with Will he goes "DADDY!  There's another one."  Sure enough, there was a Mourning Dove sitting in one of our flower baskets among the dried up plants.  We thought it was strange and when it didn't fly away when we walked by, I told Dave it was probably nesting!  She hasn't moved since we noticed her yesterday, so I'm assuming the nesting theory is correct.  We'll see in a few weeks!

According to some research, the incubation period is two weeks and then the babies will be ready 2 weeks after that to leave the nest!  SO, if yesterday was the day she laid the eggs, we'll see babies around 3/21!  Will is very excited to check on the bird (from inside the house of course) and he's SUPER excited to see the baby birds.  (Just like Baby Brother he tells me.)

I'll keep everyone updated on our new little neighbor.  Hopefully once the eggs hatch and the little ones take off, I can plant some new flowers in my baskets!  :)

She flew away for a second when I was closing our windows, so I managed to get a sneak peek at the eggs!

Dancing Man!

We were listening to Pandora while cleaning up toys and this song by Rascal Flatts came on from the movie Cars.  Will absolutely LOVES that movie, so he runs over to me and says, "MOMMY!  It's the CARS song!"  So of course I turned up the volume and turned on the camera to catch him dancing just a little bit.  He's a funny kid.  :)  (Towards the end, he's saying "Boogety Boogety Boogety" which is a line from the movie. )

33 weeks!

33 weeks!  6 weeks or less to go!

Will and his Play Doh Monster

Aquarium

Will and I went to the Aquarium at Fort Fisher earlier this week with one of his friends and her Mom.  The kids had fun seeing all the fish, but had even MORE fun running up and down the stairs.  At least Will was still free for the admission!  :)

Albino Alligator

Will checking one of the big boys out!

Doesn't look too thrilled, does he?

This lobster was HUGE!  I don't think he'll be able to fit in the tank much longer.

Hanging out with the giant frog!
